Artist's statement for Gulliver's Forest
Gulliver's Forest exists in a natural and stable growing part of this park with its variety of new and old growth forest as opposed to very unstable and fragile monoculture tree plantations that abound in New Brunswick. My intervention as an artist is very simple. I have only changed the topography and did not cut out any existing trees or planted new ones. To the Lilliput people from Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" walking in my forest, the very little trees would appear to be of a normal size and as for his giants the whole of Gulliver's Forest becomes a very tiny landscape.

La forêt de Gulliver existe dans une partie du parc où poussent des peuplements stables composés de forêts anciennes et de jeunes peuplements contrairement aux peuplements forestiers mono spécifiques fragiles et instables qui foisonnent au Nouveau-Brunswick. Mon intervention en tant qu’artiste est toute simple. Je n’ai changé que la topographie du terrain sans couper les arbres existants et sans planter de nouveaux arbres. Pour les Lilliputiens des « Voyages de Gulliver » de Jonathan Swift ma forêt de très petits arbres leur semblerait de taille normale, tandis que pour les géants du récit l’ensemble de La Forêt de Gulliver ne serait qu’un minuscule paysage.
