Artist's statement for Sackville 1
The spinning work, Sackville 1, incorporates a gelatin silver photograph as the head of the work. The photogram, a camera-less photograph made here in the marsh, is a document of the energies and elemental phenomena that exists here and throughout nature. I am interested in enticing the viewer into a certain contemplation while looking, thereby opening the doors for the subconscious to release dormant knowledge and memory. The wind, light, snow and rain interact with Sackville 1 and effect its movements and slow decay into the marsh.
The viewer is already making attempts and connections to nature by taking time to enjoy this beautiful park. I hope that by showing art works that reveal things that we do not see, but know are there, the experience deepens and our relationship to this planet strengthens.

Enoncé de l'artiste pour Sackville 1
La tête de l’oeuvre pivotante Sackville 1 comprend une photographie argentique à la gélatine. Le photogramme, une image photographique obtenue sans utiliser d’appareil, a été réalisé dans le marais et documente les énergies et les éléments propres à la nature du lieu. Je cherche à entraîner le spectateur dans une certaine contemplation qui permettra à son subconscient de faire émerger des réminiscences et des connaissances. Le vent, la lumière, la neige et la pluie interagissent avec Sackville 1, affectent ses mouvements et sa lente désintégration dans le marais.
Le promeneur, en décidant de visiter ce superbe parc, est déjà en lien avec la nature. J’espère que l’exposition d’œuvres d’art qui nous révèle des choses que nous appréhendons mais ne voyons pas contribuera à enrichir l’expérience du promeneur et à renforcer notre relation avec la planète.
