The annual celebration is in honour of St. Anne, the patron saint of the Mi’kmaq. The celebration started on Chapel Island July 26, 1628 and since has been celebrated every July 26th by the Mi’kmaq people. Sine 1984 Fort Folly celebrates St. Anne’s day with a picnic on the third Sunday of July at the Beaumont Church. The celebration begins with a catholic mass followed by the procession of the statue of St. Anne. After the procession, a feast commences with traditional drumming and dancing. This event is open to all interested in attend. Directions from Sackville, NB: Take the TransCanada Highway towards Moncton. Follow highway until you reach exit 482, at stop sign turn right on Renaissance Street. Renaissance Street will turn into Royale St. Turn right on Rue St. Thomas (there is a memorial site beside the street). At end of street turn left onto Centrale Street. Take a right at the fork in the road; this street is called Pre D’en Haut St. You will see a sign for Belliveau Village Road, take a left street will be Principale Street. Follow this road; turn left onto Beaumont Road drive until you reach the Church.
