Cinema Politica will be showing the film Finding Dawn at the Wu Center in the Dunn Center of Mount Allison University on December 6th at 7:30 pm.
It will be co-hosted by the President's Advisory Committee on Women, in dedication to the National day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. This film illustrates the deep historical, social, and economic factors that contribute to the epidemic of violence against Aboriginal women. Dawn Crey, Ramona Wilson and Daleen Kay Bosse are just three of the estimated 500 Aboriginal women who have gone missing or been murdered in Canada over the past 30 years. This film investigates these murders and disappearances that remain unresolved to this day, while highlighting the disturbing, world-wide culture of impunity that allows murders of women-especially those who are poor, indigenous, or sex workers - to go unsolved and unpunished.
All are welcome!
