Sackville Township 250th Anniversary Play to be Presented.
The Tantramar Heritage Trust is embarking on another exciting summer season in Sackville. As part of their activities, from July 18th to 22nd, the Trust will be producing a main stage original play Free Land? The Founding of Sackville Township, 1762 written and directed by Ron Kelly Spurles. The play is an important part of the celebration of Sackville’s 250th anniversary, and is supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Town of Sackville, and Renaissance Sackville. The play has also been assisted by Windsor Theatre, the Performers Company, and especially Live Bait Theatre.
The Trust’s production will be held at Live Bait Theatre, 87 Main Street, and features more than 40 local performers, including members of the Acadian and First Nations populations, with original music by Janet Crawford. Full period costumes have been created by Andrea Wilson, and the set is by Decima Mitchell.
The play will be presented Wednesday to Saturday, July 18 – 22 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Tidewater Books, 13 Bridge Street, and are $5 for students,seniors and children, and $9 for adults. A limited number of seats are available, so it is recommended that people purchase their tickets early.
