The social event of the season is coming up at the Owens Art Gallery, and everyone is invited.
This Valentine’s Day, for the 11th year running, the Owens is partnering with Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre to bring you their annual fundraising gala, The Sweetest Little Thing.
Get dressed up in red or pink and come out for an evening of music, dancing, and raffle prizes. Take part in the famous Cake Walk, a game that works like musical chairs but with gorgeous, delectable cakes as its prizes, and take home a Polaroid keepsake from the Instant Lovin’ Photobooth.
At the centre of the evening is an art auction, with small works donated by notable artists locally and from across Canada, including Micah Lexier, Marc Bell, Carl Zimmerman, Edith Dakovic, Linda Rae Dornan, George S. Zimbel, Rebecca Burke, Eric Walker, Susan Wood, and John Murchie. In conjunction with this support from Canadian artists, Mount Allison’s third year Fine Arts students have been invited to make work for the auction to represent Canada’s growing population of emerging artists. As of 3 February, these artworks will be available for viewing and online bidding at www.sweetestlittlething.ca
The funds raised by The Sweetest Little Thing are split between Struts and the Owens, and assist with the galleries’ programming and equipment purchasing.
The Sweetest Little Thing takes place on 14 February at 7:30PM at the Owens Art Gallery, 61 York Street, Mount Allison Campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Bring your friends and family for a fabulous evening that is not to be missed!
