Carriage Factory "Barn Raising"

The Tantramar Heritage Trust is organizing a major three-day event around the timber-raising of their new addition to the Campbell Carriage Factory Museum. After long planning and careful organizing, the Tantramar Heritage Trust is now prepared to add the last major piece to the complex of facilities at the Campbell Carriage Factory. Right where an additional building stood a century ago, this new structure will allow for a major new entrance, reception and sales area (handicap accessible), modern washrooms (handicap-equipped), and much more.

The timber frame for this new facility is being designed by TimberHart Woodworkers, the leading timber framers in the Maritimes. Heritage materials are being utilized that bear the marks of their being hand-hewn and carefully joined together in the traditional way. Over a three-day period in June, the prepared materials will arrive on site, and utilizing local volunteers, the frames will be constructed and raised, one at a time, until the entire framework is complete.

Come and witness a traditional 19th century "Barn-raising" for the Campbell Carriage Factory's new reception and exhibit hall! Located at 19 Church Street.
